A cycle of interregional tourist routes in the Arctic will be organized in St. Petersburg in order to popularize northern travel destinations. The series will be called "In the footsteps of the Great Expeditions", the first route of the cycle will run from St. Petersburg to the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the press service of the city administration reported.
They noted that the appearance of a new route on the map will emphasize the direct connection of St. Petersburg with the legendary Arctic research, in particular, it will remind contemporaries of the great northern expedition of Vitus Bering, which was approved and approved in 1724 by Peter the Great.
The central point of the route will be Pustozersk - the first Russian city in the Arctic, built at the end of the XV century. The visit to Pustozersk is planned to be combined: in summer it will be possible to get there by boats, and in winter - by snowmobiles.
