A meeting of the section of the Union of Museums of Russia - "Event tourism as a factor in the development of Arctic territories and their cultural integration" - of Arctic museums will be held on May 31 at the Taimyr’s local lore museum.
In recent years domestic tourism has received intensive development and therefore the cultural integration of regions within the framework of joint tourism, exhibition, and scientific projects is of great practical importance.
A meeting of the section of Arctic museums dedicated to Arctic event tourism will be held on the eve of the Dancing Ice Art Festival, timed to coincide with the beginning of the ice drift on the Yenisei.
A colorful natural phenomenon - the opening of the mighty Siberian river from the ice - is an unforgettable sight, demonstrating the power and strength of the largest waterway.
The meeting of the section will address issues of promotion and development of the Arctic territories through the implementation of vibrant cultural events. The participants will discuss a number of issues, including: event-based Arctic tourism as an incentive for the development of remote territories; the formation of a single event calendar; promotion of events through the interaction of cultural institutions; opportunities for scientific and educational tourism; problems of tourism infrastructure development; information support as a factor in promoting events. The event will be held with the participation of representatives of northern museums, experts in the field of museology, local history, art history and will include a presentation of successful practices of Arctic event tourism.
Representatives of government, business, travel companies and public organizations are invited to the discussion.
