The press service of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute reported that the scientific expedition vessel Akademik Treshnikov will set out on its next voyage in the coming days. The vessel will deliver specialists and supplies to the research station of the AARI, hard-to-reach stations of Roshydromet and control and correction stations of the State Corporation Rosatom.
In Arkhangelsk, the Akademik Treshnikov will take on board the cargo necessary for delivery. These include products, fuel, fuels, lubricants and construction materials, scientific equipment and technology. In addition, a replacement crew of polar explorers will board the ship to work at Arctic stations.
Then the ship will travel along the entire length of the Northern Sea Route. The cargo will be delivered to remote islands in the eastern Barents and Kara Sea, to the Taimyr Peninsula, to the Severnaya Zemlya and New Siberian Islands archipelagos, to the coast of Yakutia and to the country’s northernmost port city of Pevek, as well as to Wrangel Island in the Chukchi Sea.
The final point of the expedition will be the research station “Ice Base Cape Baranova” on the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago on the shore of the Shokalsky Strait. A shift of AARI polar explorers and everything necessary to ensure the life of the station will be delivered there.
It is planned that at the end of November "Akademik Treshnikov" will return to St. Petersburg.
