The celebration began with the All–Russian action "Museum Days on Amur" - museum workers from Kaliningrad to Chukotka gathered to share their experiences.

Educational seminars were held for them, and public performances by the directors of Russia's leading museums were held in Khabarovsk universities, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic reported. At an expanded meeting of the Presidium of the Union of Museums of Russia, more than 120 museum managers and staff from all over the country discussed the problems and prospects of the industry's development in the 21st century.

And the main event of the business program was the strategic session, which was attended by representatives of 40 museums from the subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District and central regions of Russia.

"The history of the exploration and development of the Far East should arouse a sense of pride in every Russian. Far Eastern museums are filled with historical meanings and themes of cross-border cooperation. Therefore, it is very important to strengthen the museum's direction, which combines cultural, economic and geopolitical components. During today's session, a mission was formulated that, I am sure, every museum of the Far East should carry – to create and broadcast the image of Russia as an ark of cultures," said Alexey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.

He called it an important task to bring collections from west to east and in the opposite direction so that residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Volga region, Siberia, the Caucasus, and all regions of Russia, including new territories, would get acquainted with the treasures that are in Far Eastern museums.

"To do this, we will send federal funds, including in the form of subsidies," Chekunkov said.

As calculated by the federal autonomous scientific institution Vostokgosplan, the largest number of museums in the Far Eastern Federal District is located in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – 88 organizations. Primorye is in second place by a wide margin (55 museums), Buryatia is in third place (33). This is followed by Khabarovsk (31 museums) and Zabaikalsky (30) territories.
