The Norilsk renovation program, implemented by Norilsk Nickel in cooperation with federal and local authorities, gave an impetus to the development of tourism in Taimyr, said Nikolay Utkin, First Vice President of the company.
"The renovation of Norilsk, which we are implementing today together with the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the government of the Russian Federation, has just marked the beginning of tourism in Taimyr. Actually, without this, there could not be tourism, without the development of greater Norilsk, and the attractiveness of this territory could not have been created," Utkin said, speaking at the session "New Development of the Arctic" at the international symposium "Creating the Future".
According to the first vice president of the company, thanks to the development of tourism in Taimyr, people will be able to get acquainted with the culture of the small peoples of the North and life in the Arctic.
"Norilsk is the northernmost metropolis in the world with such a population. (..) The company intends to create the most comfortable conditions not only for living, but also for tourism," Utkin said.
