Russian and Brazilian scientists discuss joint Arctic and Antarctic research

The Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Russian Ambassador to Norway, member of the Presidium of the State Commission on Arctic Development Nikolai Korchunov and a delegation of scientists from Brazil.

Alexander Makarov, Director of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, presented the possibilities of developing cooperation between researchers from Russia and Brazil in the field of scientific, technological and educational cooperation in the Arctic region.

The parties discussed issues of climate change, biodiversity and marine resources, technology and the possibility of organizing joint expeditions. The substantive discussion was focused on further areas of Russian-Brazilian cooperation on polar research, scientific, technological and educational cooperation between Brazilian universities and Russian organizations in the Arctic region, korabel.ru reports.
