Seventeen Northerners, residents of one of the mysterious and inaccessible cities of the world – Norilsk, presented their works in the exhibition space of the Cube.Moscow art platform.
For the audience, the project "Urban Polar Explorers", implemented with the support of the company Norilsk Nickel, is an opportunity to see Norilsk through the eyes of its residents, to consider important details for Norilsk residents.
"Our city is shrouded in legends. You can stay here for a day or live a lifetime. In both cases, it is impossible to forget the city," said Karina Andreeva, curator of the exhibition, head of socio–cultural and educational projects of the Norilsk Development Agency. "As soon as you say that you live in Norilsk, people around you begin to ask a lot of questions about how we live without the sun, whether the northern lights are beautiful, how we endure winter for nine months and others. Answering these questions, you understand: but I am a polar explorer. City polar explorer".
The exhibition consists of 11 works: media art, installations and art objects. A collection of zines created by Norilsk residents is presented separately: 12 individual and one collective edition, goarctic.rureports.
