In total, over three thousand volunteers from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Benin, Brazil, Bolivia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Congo and Mongolia took part in the expeditions of the project in 2022. Among the foreigners were mainly students studying in Russian universities in the specialized specialties of the environmental profile.
“Given the geography of the project and the composition of the participants, Clean Arctic can rightly be considered an international project. At the same time, the project has an educational function and often helps its participants with the choice of a profession related to ecology," the press service of the Clean Arctic quotes Elena Sharoikina, chairperson of the Commission on Ecology and Environment of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
“This synergy of real action and education is paying off: the pace is set and I am sure the project will continue to expand its boundaries and involve more and more volunteers in cleaning up the Arctic,” she added.
