Snowmobile tourism is actively developing in Russia, including in specially protected natural areas. So, in the last two years, due to the growing number of requests from tourist organizations, some federal protected areas have organized permanent snowmobile routes. This was announced on its website by the Roszapovedcenter of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia.
"To date, the largest number of snowmobile routes have been organized in protected areas located in the Republic of Karelia, on Lake Baikal, in the Kemerovo and Arkhangelsk regions," the message says.
For example, in Kenozersky National Park (Arkhangelsk Region), snowmobile tours are conducted from December to March along six different routes ranging in length from 15 to 32 km.
"The most visited snowmobile route of the national park and one of the most visited in the protected areas as a whole is the 18-kilometer "Northern Equator". In 2023, it was visited by more than two thousand people. The main objects of display on the route are the watershed between the White and Baltic Seas, the church of St. Alexander Svirsky of the XIX century," the Roszapovedcenter said.
Three snowmobile routes have been developed in the Baikal National Park (Irkutsk region), as well as two routes with movement on hivuses and skis.
