The neural network has been taught to determine the dynamics of ice movement in the Arctic, which will help improve the safety of arctic navigation.

The system was developed by Russian students who won awards at the Smiles 2023 Summer School for the development of artificial intelligence, held in the Altai Territory, TASS reports.

According to the developers, the project was created, among other things, for sailors who need an accurate picture of ice movement. The peculiarity of the solution is that the system will capture patterns of interaction between close areas of ice and the influence of weather, predicting the dynamics of ice movement. The model is supposed to be able to be applied in conditions of a shortage of real data.
