In the Murmansk Region, starting from 2024, the certification of guides will include questions about the Aurora borealis, Chairman of the regional tourism Committee Alexander Eliseev said.
"Already, the Aurora Borealis is not just a photo, but an event and a tourist product. Our tour operators offer this tourist product with certified guides and, among other things, we include infrastructure there, which is supported within the framework of a national project. For example, the first Arctic beach in the Murmansk region was opened this summer, and in winter it is a platform for observing the Northern lights," Yeliseyev said.
He also said that this winter the fair "In the North – Warmth" with Arctic cuisine will open in Murmansk, the festival "Frost" will traditionally be held in Olenegorsk, and the Hyperborean New Year will be held in Kovdor, b-port.com reports.
