France's polar strategy involves allocating €1 billion for research in the Arctic and Antarctic until 2030, French President Emmanuel Macron said at the closing of the One Planet Summit in Paris.

The funds will be used to modernize the infrastructure of the Antarctic stations "Durmont d'Urville" and "Concordia", the creation of a floating Arctic station "Tara" and a scientific vessel specially designed for navigation in high latitudes with difficult ice conditions.

The French President proposed to create an international coalition of coastal cities to combat sea level rise and international groups of scientists to study glaciers.

He also proposed to take the necessary measures to solve the problem of melting glaciers in the Arctic and Antarctic, and create large-scale marine protected zones in the Arctic and Antarctic to prevent their industrial exploitation.
