The XIII International Forum “The Arctic: Present and Future” will take place on December 7-8 in St. Petersburg at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center. More than 50 sessions will be held within 11 thematic areas of development of the Arctic region. This is reported on the event website.
“The Arctic is a unique territory, so it is very important to maintain a balance between economic interests and nature conservation for the sake of all residents of our country. In changing conditions, it is necessary to timely adjust tasks and ways to solve them in order to ensure balanced development of the Arctic. This is the main goal of the upcoming forum,” the message quotes the words of the President of the Association of Polar Explorers, Artur Chilingarov.
The forum annually brings together more than two thousand participants from Russia and other countries. During the sessions, such areas of the Arctic agenda as the new economy, favorable living conditions, science, technology and technology, transport and logistics complex and infrastructure, environmental conservation and climate, international cooperation, resource base development, integrated security architecture and others will be discussed.
“Among the new topics of the forum: creating conditions for the launch of year-round navigation along the Northern Route; views of non-regional states on the possibilities of the Arctic; the formation of a cyclical economy in the Arctic Circle; development of supporting cities and development of master plans; upbringing and education of the younger generation and the establishment of the institution of mentoring in the North; new approaches to solving personnel shortages,” noted the event organizers.
The business program will be complemented by an exhibition of new Arctic projects, as well as achievements of science and technology for the development of the Far North.
The forum will also host the next stage of the educational project “Meeting of Generations”, which is being implemented by the Poles of the Earth MGPC. Participants of Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, scientists, veteran polar explorers and representatives of large companies operating in the Arctic zone will tell schoolchildren about professions in demand in the Arctic Circle.
