The authorities of Chukotka, together with the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, want to make changes to the list of ports available for foreign vessels, said the head of the region Vladislav Kuznetsov.

According to him, such a measure is necessary for the reception of tourist cruise liners in the region. Today, travelers can get to Chukotka only with the help of aviation.

Tourism is one of the key drivers of the region's development. A tourism council has been established in Chukotka, steps are being taken to increase the attractiveness of the region for travelers, the governor said.

To date, about 20.000 people visit Chukotka annually for tourist purposes, mainly in the summer, rossaprimavera.ru reports.
