A ski resort will be built in the Polar Urals, said Dmitry Artyukhov, Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
"It is a great honor for us that the Ministry of Sports of Russia and the Russian Snowboard Federation entrust us with holding such a level of competition. This inspires us to develop skiing and snowboarding. We have big plans to build a ski resort in the Polar Urals: A real resort will appear very close to here," Artyukhov said.
He took part in the ceremony awarding the winners of the Russian Snowboard Cross Cup.
In the region, this sport began to develop in the early 2000s in the city clubs and associations of Salekhard, Labytnanga, Nadym, Novy Urengoy, Noyabrsk and Muravlenko. Since 2018, the regional branch of the All-Russian public organization "Snowboard Federation of Russia in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District" has been working on the development of the type of snowboard.
