Three Russian cities – Norilsk, Murmansk and Anadyr – will become territories where base ground stations for the Skif satellite system of the federal Sphere project will be located.
The program involves the launch of communication satellites and remote surveillance of the Earth. It will include five satellite groups providing telecommunications services, and five more will be engaged in surveillance.
The development belongs to the Information Satellite Systems company named after Academician M.F.Reshetnev, which is part of the state corporation "Roscosmos". Each station will be equipped with four antenna posts.
The first Skif-D satellite was launched into orbit in 2022 together with three Gonets-M satellites. The deployment of the group is planned for 2026. The full grouping will consist of 12 Skif-D satellites, ttelegraf.ru reports.
