The press service of the Central Suburban Passenger Company announced that a new tourist route will be launched on January 13. The modern Orlan train will depart from Lukashevka to Kursk and finish its journey in Ponyry, after which it will go in the opposite direction.
In the station building, passengers will be able to visit the Hall of Military Glory and the exposition dedicated to the history of Ponyri station for free. The exhibition presents documents and photographs from different years, inventory and tools of railway workers. A memorial composition has been installed next to the station, which includes fragments of rolling stock from the period of the Great Patriotic War: a head platform loaded with rails and sleepers for track repairs, a heating wagon, a water tank and a steam locomotive. Next to the station there is a historical and memorial museum dedicated to the feat of Soviet soldiers on the Kursk Bulge.
A two-car train with 133 seats can accommodate several tourist groups or school classes with accompanying persons at once. The cabin has upholstered seats, wide luggage racks, climate control system, information boards and LED lighting. Lifts, wheelchair mounts and spacious sanitary rooms are provided for passengers with limited mobility.
