Russian Railways (RZD) announced today the expansion of its popular sleeping capsule service to four additional major stations: Kursky Station in Moscow, as well as Chelyabinsk, Omsk, and Krasnoyarsk. Passengers can expect the individual sleeping pods to be installed by mid-2024.
“This expansion demonstrates RZD’s commitment to providing passengers with innovative solutions for a more comfortable travel experience,” a company spokesperson said.
Individualized Comfort and Convenience
Each capsule offers a private space for relaxation while waiting for a train. Designed for one person, they can also accommodate a parent with a child under the age of 6. The capsules are equipped with amenities like USB charging ports, soundproof blinds to create a peaceful environment, and luggage storage compartments for passenger convenience. Additionally, the service includes a set of disposable bed linen for enhanced hygiene.
Flexible Pricing System
RZD’s flexible pricing system allows passengers to rent a capsule for an hour or for a longer period depending on their layover time. This caters to various travel needs and ensures maximum convenience for passengers on the go.
Expanding Accessibility
The sleeping capsule service has already proven popular at Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, and Vostochny stations in Moscow, as well as in Adler, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, and Barnaul. The expansion to these four additional stations signifies RZD’s commitment to making this innovative service more accessible to travelers across Russia.
