The Ak-Khayyrakan and Ulug-Oorug nature reserves will be created in the Republic of Tyva to preserve unique flora and fauna, in particular snow leopards and red Book plants. This is reported by the portal "Wild Nature of Russia" with reference to the head of the region Vladislav Khovalyg.

Draft laws on the creation of specially protected natural areas were approved at a meeting of the republican government.

"The mountainous territory of Ulug-Oorug is located 20 kilometers west of Teeli. The snow leopard, the snow leopard, lives here. There are also five rare red Book plant species in Ulug-Oorug," the portal quotes the head of the republic.

The site has a good location for the residence of snow leopards - it is part of the migration corridor of a large group of leopards.

The total area of the Ulug-Oorug Nature Reserve is 62.4 thousand hectares, it is home to 31 species of mammals, two species of reptiles and 118 species of birds. As the portal notes, in addition to the snow leopard, you can find manul, Siberian mountain goat and red deer here.

The Ak-Khayyrakan Nature Reserve, in turn, covers an area of 22.19 thousand hectares. Marals and Siberian roe deer winter here.

"Hunting and industrial activities will be banned in two new sanctuaries, which will contribute to the restoration and conservation of unique ecosystems and animal species," the portal reports.
