The Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) has reported that it has sent official letters to the airlines Emirates, flydubai, Air Arabia, and Ural Airlines with a request to provide prompt and maximum assistance to tourists who find themselves in UAE airports without proper service.

Earlier it was reported that a number of flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai were canceled due to heavy rains. The bad weather and red alert are expected to last until 18.00 Moscow time on April 17.

ATOR reported that the association received several dozen calls and letters from Russian tourists who are in a difficult situation at UAE airports. "Tourists do not receive any information from airline representatives, as well as water and food. Several hundred passengers, including minors, are in an extremely difficult situation and are asking for help," the appeal says.

ATOR calls on foreign and Russian airlines to promptly inform passengers about flight departures, as well as provide people with water and food, even if they are in the sterile zone.

In turn, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation reported that the department is monitoring the situation with the delay in the departure of Russians from the UAE. The message notes that all organized Russian tourists are provided with accommodation and hot meals, and tour operators are in contact with carriers and partners in the UAE. According to Russian tour operators, there are about two thousand organized Russian tourists in the country.

The Interfax-Tourism portal also reported that the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation requested information about independent Russian tourists stuck at the Dubai airport from the Consulate General in the Emirate.

"The Ministry requested information from the Consulate General of Russia in Dubai regarding the measures being taken to provide assistance to individual Russian tourists (traveling not on a package tour) who are in Dubai. In particular, attention was drawn to the need to provide food and water to such tourists," the ministry said.
