The Russian Traveler Awards in the nomination "Natural Object" this year was awarded to the Ushkany Islands (Zabaikalsky National Park). This was reported by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Reserved Podlemorye", under the protection of which the national park is located.

"Interest in the archipelago is ensured thanks to the ecological trail "To the Baikal Seal rookery" on the island of Tonky. Here, in the summer, you can watch seals in their natural habitat. 5.6 thousand people visited the trail this year! According to our experts, this figure will only grow," the message says.

The "Reserved Podlemore" did not rule out that in the future visits to the archipelago will have to be limited, since there should be no recreational overload in specially protected natural areas, that is, exceeding the permissible number of visitors.

The Baikal seal is an endemic inhabiting the entire lake. The largest summer rookery is located on the Ushkany Islands. Seals come here to bask in the sun, especially in May and June.

Russian Traveler magazine annually launches the online voting "Russian Traveler Awards" to determine the best in the world of travel – from national dishes to international routes. This year, more than 500 objects from 50 regions of Russia were announced for the award. Three million readers of the publication voted for the best of the best.

The Federal State Budgetary Institution "Zapovednoe Podlemorye" is located in Buryatia, under its protection there are three protected areas located on the northeastern coast of Lake Baikal. These are the Barguzin Nature Reserve, the Frolikhinsky Nature Reserve and the Trans-Baikal National Park.
