The Department of State Expertise of the Republic of Buryatia issued a positive conclusion based on the results of consideration of the design documentation and the results of engineering surveys for the construction of the National Museum in the Sovetsky district of Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia. This is reported on the website of the Glavgosekpertiza of Russia.

"A comfortable and high–tech new building will allow the national museum, a treasury of cultural and historical monuments of the peoples of Buryatia, to store, replenish, and exhibit at the highest level all the best that was created by the work and talent of outstanding creative representatives of the region. The main museum of Buryatia will become a point of attraction for guests and residents of the republic on the shores of Lake Baikal," the message says.

The total area of the building will be 14,883 square meters.

"According to the architectural concept, the museum will be an interpretation of the Aya Ganga flower - four symbolic petals will unite around a multifunctional core, which will be decorated as an exposition on the theme "Man at Lake Baikal," the department noted. It is this theme that will connect the three main directions of the museum exposition – history, culture and nature.

The new building will be built on a peninsula on the Uda River, in the very center of Ulan-Ude. According to the project, a comfortable lobby, an exhibition space, a conference hall and a business center, a tour desk, a gallery, a cafe, a children's center with a separate entrance, club rooms, a summer terrace and a library will appear in the main block of the building.

"The central block has been designated as a repository for sculptures, graphics, precious metals, numismatics and weapons. In other blocks there will be a darkroom, a storage of fur, fabrics, household items, restoration workshops, archeology, zoology, paleontology, botany and a rare book fund," the Glavgosexpertize reported.

Landscaping of the adjacent territory is planned – the placement of parking lots, recreation areas, an open museum exposition, an amphitheater, as well as the installation of small architectural forms and landscaping.
