The implementation of the national project "Ecology" continues

The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources told about the preliminary results of the national project "Ecology", which were announced at a meeting of the Public Council of the department. The participants of the event concluded that the national project demonstrates effectiveness, and most of the planned activities are carried out according to schedule.

Over the five years of the implementation of the federal Clean Country project, 149 out of 279 unauthorized landfills and accumulated damage facilities were eliminated. It is planned to complete work on 40 more sites by the end of the year. By the end of next year, the living conditions of almost 30 million people are expected to improve, and about 80 urban unauthorized landfills will be eliminated.

Another successful federal project is Clean Air. Since the beginning of the year, in 12 participating cities of the project, almost five thousand houses have been switched from coal to gas and electricity, six city boiler houses have been closed and modernized, 122 public transport units have been replaced with electric buses, trams and trolleybuses.

As part of the implementation of another project, the Volga River Rehabilitation, 96 wastewater treatment plants were put into operation. At the moment, 42 more facilities are under construction. By the end of the year, work will be completed on 13 of them. The project is aimed at reducing polluted wastewater discharged into the Volga River. In addition, culverts are being built in the lower reaches of the Volga to improve water exchange. Over the five years of the national project, 54 facilities have been commissioned, six of them this year. By the end of 2024, the number of culverts will grow to 80.

In the future, it is planned to continue the implementation of the national project "Ecology". The restoration and rehabilitation of water bodies, the conservation of forests and biological diversity, the development of an environmental monitoring system and the elimination of accumulated harm will continue.
