Glavgosexpertiza of Russia announced on its website the issuance of a positive opinion on the results of the review of the Nikolskaya Sopka landscaping project in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
"Nowadays Nikolskaya Sopka is a natural monument. Locals call it the hill of Love. There is a natural and historical park here. Landscaping is being implemented within the framework of the federal project "Formation of a comfortable urban environment" of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment". The project involves the construction of observation decks and additional walking routes," the message says.
The hill is known as the founding site of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - in 1740, a port settlement was founded at the foot of a hill on the shore of Avacha Bay for the second Kamchatka expedition of Vitus Bering.
"Later, other famous navigators visited here, including Cook, Laperouse, Kruzenshtern," Glavgosexpertize said.
