The annual international campaign "Clean Mountains", aimed at drawing public attention to the problem of littering of mountainous natural areas and promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, started on April 1. It will be held in Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan until November 15. This was announced on his website by one of the organizers of the action, the Katunsky Biosphere Reserve (Russia).
"Participants are invited to organize and conduct an action to clean up mountain areas or adjacent areas from household garbage. After that, post a photo report on social networks with the obligatory indication of the hashtag #Chistyegory2024. In addition, as part of the campaign, participants can independently organize and conduct environmental awareness events aimed at creating a culture of waste management among the population," the message says.
The campaign has been held since 2020 on the initiative of the Katunsky Reserve and unites hundreds of caring citizens of the Altai Republic, East Kazakhstan and Naryn regions. Last year, over three thousand people took part in it. In total, 43 eco-desants were organized by volunteers, 109 cubic meters of garbage were collected and taken to landfills.
"Following the results of the campaign, the most active participants will be awarded diplomas and prizes from the organizers. According to tradition, the award ceremony will be timed to coincide with the International Mountain Day," the reserve noted.
