The press service of the Russian Geographical Society announced the start of voting for the best project in the field of preserving the natural and historical and cultural heritage of Russia. The winner will receive the Crystal Compass Award in the Public Recognition category. This is the only nomination, the winner of which can be chosen by everyone. You can cast your vote until May 1 on the official website of the award.
In all other ten nominations, the winners of the Crystal Compass will be determined by the expert council. The names of the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Moscow on May 30.
The "Crystal Compass" is sometimes called the "geographical Oscar". Since 2012, this international award has been awarded for outstanding achievements and unique projects aimed at preserving the natural and historical and cultural heritage of Russia.
This year, more than 600 participants from 14 countries of the world became applicants for the award. Among the applicants are representatives of Russia, India, France, the USA, Egypt, Belarus, Moldova, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. For the first time, projects from Turkmenistan, Nepal and Tajikistan will compete for the award.
