The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow Region reported that the Dubrovitsky Forest reserve in Podolsk has been reorganized. As a result, the area of the specially protected natural area increased from 561 to 577 hectares.

The reorganization was carried out after the identification of valuable natural complexes and objects requiring special protection in the areas adjacent to the reserve. Among them is a valuable archaeological monument — the "Settlement "Lukovnya". It is dated to the 5th century BC.

On the territory of the reserve there are 11 species of animals and 21 species of plants and lichens in need of special protection and attention. Of these, nine species of plants, one species of lichens and six species of animals are listed in the Red Book of the Moscow region. Another 16 species of plants and animals recorded in the Dubrovitsky Forest are rare and vulnerable in the region.
