The Atlas multifunctional roadside service complex has opened at km 1,517 of the R-21 Kola federal highway near the village of Pechenga in the Murmansk Region, the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (KRDV) reports on its website.
The facility, unique for the north of Russia, was built by a resident of the Arctic zone - the Ivekta Group company. It provides a wide range of services for car travelers.

“The service complex has both a regular gas station and a fast car charging station, an arctic cuisine cafe and a shop. In the future, car wash and parking services, tire fitting and free wheel inflation will be available. Under an agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, investments in the project amounted to 27 million rubles," the KRDV said.

In the Scandinavian-style complex, you can sit at a table in the hall with panoramic windows or on the outdoor terrace with picturesque mountain views.

“This, perhaps, was the main idea of the project - to create such conditions for travelers so that they can fully and enjoy their rest while on the road,” said Maxim Kukushkin, managing director of Ivekta Group, quoted by KRDV.

According to him, the prerequisite for the project was the lack of gas stations in the village of Pechenga and neighboring settlements. As Kukushkin noted, the installation of a high-speed station capable of fully charging a car in 30-60 minutes is a necessity today, since the use of environmentally friendly electric cars is a global trend.

“It is gradually gaining strength in the Murmansk region. But, in addition, the border is within easy reach from us, and Scandinavia is the leader in the number of electric vehicles. There are quite a lot of people coming from there, most of them, stopping at the service center, always ask about the electric charging station,” he said.

According to Kukushkin, a cafe with arctic cuisine is one of the main highlights of the complex. The menu includes dishes from venison, fish, berries, mushrooms, seafood, as well as classic burgers, hot dogs, pizza. The company plans to organize a food delivery service at the cafe.

For Ivekta Group, the complex in Pechenga is only the first stage of the project. In the near future, there are plans to open a similar service center at the entrance to the village of Lovozero in the summer of 2023.

“In the future, we are considering the creation of a network of multifunctional complexes in the Murmansk region - in those areas where the need for them is especially high. We will focus on the development of electric charging infrastructure - the number of electric cars in the country will definitely increase in the foreseeable future," Kukushkin said.
