The press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation reported on the results of the meeting of the working group on tourism within the framework of the Union State. One of the key topics of the meeting was transport accessibility and expansion of the geography of flights.
Currently, there are more than 90 direct flights per week in the Minsk-Moscow direction. A direct connection between Brest and Moscow has recently been launched. Such flights will be operated twice a week.
The report notes that 36 regions of Russia have already expressed interest in establishing direct flights with Belarus or expanding the existing one. Another 13 subjects of the Russian Federation reported on the expediency of expanding road and rail links.
Belarus is among the top 10 foreign destinations for Russian tourists. This interest is mutual. Last year, the number of trips of Belarusian citizens to Russia doubled: over 144 thousand tourists visited Moscow.
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation stressed that in order to further increase the number of tourist trips, it is necessary to expand transport accessibility and develop new cross-border routes.
