Russia and Abkhazia Agree to Duty-Free Trade

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has announced that a protocol has been signed allowing for the duty-free import of various goods from Russia into Abkhazia. This includes fish, petroleum products, construction materials,and more.

"The exemption of goods exported to Abkhazia from additional export duties will allow our countries to increase trade and make a significant contribution to strengthening the common social and economic space between Russia and Abkhazia," noted Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia.

Abkhazia adheres to the customs legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Now, goods for domestic consumption can be imported into the republic without duties. The list includes fish, fruits, vegetables, construction materials, petroleum products, aluminum products, and ferrous metals.
