Sailugem National Park accepts applications for participation in the first volunteer camp of the summer season until April 15. This was announced by the Association of Nature Reserves and National Parks of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion on its website.
"The first volunteer camp will be held from June 16 to 23 in the Sarzhematy tract, on the territory of the Sailugem section of the Sailugemsky National Park. We are looking for physically and mentally strong volunteers who are ready to help equip and repair the ecological trail at the Peak of Journalists. Safe and comfortable trails are important for the convenience of not only inspectors and scientific staff of the national park, but also guests of the territory who come to observe animals and see the unique protected nature of Altai," Marina Chetova, chief specialist in environmental education of the Sailugem National Park, is quoted in the message.
In addition, employees of the protected area will show and tell volunteers how they install automatic cameras, and check new camera traps together with volunteers. Perhaps they will be lucky to see new unique footage of snow leopards.
The National Park provides volunteers with a transfer from the capital of the Altai Republic, Gorno-Altaisk, and products. A prerequisite for participation in the summer camp is vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis.
"Everyone who has reached the age of 18 and wants to apply for participation in a volunteer camp needs to be ready for the following works: clearing, repairing, arranging an ecological trail, installing stone tours indicating the direction of movement along the pathway. In addition, you need to prepare for the most beautiful sunsets, the stunning aroma of the wind from the meadows and steppes and the huge starry sky at night," the message says.
