The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow region announced the establishment of a security zone near one of the smallest specially protected natural territories of the Moscow region - a natural monument of regional significance "The Nest of the white stork in the village of Vysochki".
The area of this natural monument is only 0.3014 hectares. However, in such a small area there are valuable natural sites and attractions, for example, one of the oldest nests of white storks in the Moscow region.
"For the first time, storks built a nest on a high-rise water tower in 1978. Since then, Red Book birds have been breeding chicks in it every year. The largest brood of 6 chicks was recorded in 2010," the report says.
The main object of protection is the nest of white storks, which serves as a home for adult birds, and as a nursery for their younger young. However, 13 species of vertebrates have also been recorded in the protected area, including 1 species of amphibians, 11 species of birds and 1 species of mammals.
