The press service of the Irkutsk Oblast government has announced the opening of a new tourist route in the Baikal National Park, called the "Angara River Headwaters". It is located on the left bank of the Angara River near its source, on the territory of the Baikal forestry and is part of the "Circum-Baikal Railway" cluster.
The route consists of two sections with a length of 1.3 km and 8 km. The trail is equipped with navigational signs,information stands, picnic spots and a photo zone.
The educational and ecological-historical route "Istok Angary" is positioned as a one-day trip and is designed to redistribute tourist flows, reduce the load on the territory of the Listvyanka district forestry of the Baikal National Park.No special physical training is required to complete the trail.
"Visitors are invited to visit the tower of the Baikal lighthouse with a 120-year history, visit the panoramic observation deck "Bely Kamen", the Transfiguration Church, walk through a birch grove and a cedar forest, a section of the Circum-Baikal Railway," the message says.
"Istok Angary" became the 25th route on the territory of the national park. When planning a weekend trip, tourists must obtain permission to visit specially protected natural areas.
