The territory, known as Talovsky Lakes, has received the status of a natural monument of regional significance.
"The Talovsky lake-marsh complex" possesses significant biodiversity, including 25 species of birds listed in the Red Data Books of the Irkutsk Region and Russia. This is a place of migration for migratory birds. There are conditions for their rest and food here," - the words of the head of the department Svetlana Trofimova are quoted in the message.
The complex is located in the floodplains of the Talaya and Kultunnaya rivers, includes river spills and part of the shore of Lake Baikal. The area of the object is 79.56 hectares.
Environmental studies were carried out, which showed the importance of protecting not only the fauna, but also the flora of these places.
This is great news for the Irkutsk region and for all of Russia. The Talovsky lake-marsh complex is a unique natural area that needs to be preserved for future generations.
