Initially, the start of its work was scheduled for 2023. The deadlines had to be postponed due to problems with the terrain. The area of the land plot for the territory of the shelter is almost 20 thousand square meters, most of which is intended for the placement of aviaries.

- The opening of the first municipal animal shelter in the Krasnodar Territory in Sochi is scheduled for early 2024. 82 animal enclosures have already been installed this year, and work is underway on their interior decoration and insulation. Another 85 aviaries are in the process of installation. At the same time, work is underway to lay the necessary engineering communications, lighting and video surveillance systems, install fences, and build a dog walking area. It was decided to make additional strengthening of the slopes to ensure the safety of the shelter. In addition, the facility is located in a swampy area, which required measures to drain the territory, the Sochi administration reports.

At the same time, the shelter will be able to accept about 500 animals. Its creation will solve the issue of temporary overexposure of stray animals caught from the streets. Non-aggressive dogs after 21 days of stay and sterilization are subject to release to their former habitats.
