In October, in the Krasnodar Territory, seeds of the Red Book nut-bearing lotus (Nelumbo nucifera s.l.) are collected; this is happening for the first time in the region. The work permit was issued by Rosprirodnadzor, under whose control the seeds are being collected.
“The collected seeds will be used for further germination with their subsequent sowing on the territory of a natural monument of regional significance in the Krasnodar Territory,” Rosprirodnadzor reported on its website.
As the department noted, the goal of the event is the preservation and reproduction of rare and endangered species of flora listed in the Red Book of Russia.
