The Daily Sabah reported on the reopening of the Galata Tower in Istanbul. Last November, the eighth floor of the building was closed to visitors. In February of this year, the landmark was completely closed for restoration.
The Galata Tower is one of the most iconic structures in Istanbul and is a symbol of the city. It is located on a high hill in the Galata district. The tower is visible from almost all points in the central part of the city. It also offers views of other Istanbul landmarks.
The publication emphasizes that on the opening day, a large queue lined up for tickets. Following the completion of the restoration work, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey issued a statement saying that the landmark will be able to accommodate no more than 100 visitors per hour.
The statement also emphasizes that the restoration work was carried out using modern technologies in close cooperation with expert scientists. The seismic resistance of the object was increased, and the specialists also took steps to accommodate migratory birds that use the tower as a nest.
The tower is now open to tourists every day from 8:30 am to 11:00 pm. The ticket offices close at 10:00 pm.
