The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that in 2023, as part of the Clean Country project, five unauthorized landfills will be eliminated in Bashkiria. Another one will be removed next year.
In particular, landfills in the cities of Sterlitamak, Baymak, Sibai, Blagoveshchensk and Davlekanovo will be eliminated by the end of this year. "All facilities are large, with a volume of waste disposal of at least 140 thousand cubic meters (with the exception of the landfill in Sibai). When implementing projects, the method of elimination without waste removal to existing landfills is used," the message says.
The largest landfill in the region with an area of more than 18 hectares is located in the city of Sterlitamak. It is located in close proximity to residential areas. Now the biological stage of its elimination has begun. Fertile soil has already been imported, the laying of biomaterial is being carried out. The largest landfill by the amount of buried waste is located in Kumertau. Its area is 12.6 hectares. 850 thousand cubic meters of garbage have accumulated here.
Work on the accumulated damage facilities began in 2022 and 2023. As a result of the elimination of all landfills in the Republic of Bashkortostan, about 56 hectares of disturbed lands will be restored, which will improve the quality of life of 468 thousand people.
