In Kislovodsk they decided to develop a new type of extreme tourism - mountain bike travel. The administration of the resort city reported this on its official website.

“Bike tours will be sent from Kislovodsk to the northern slopes of Elbrus. This will be one of the most difficult cycling routes in Russia. Next year, it has been decided to organize international level races on the track,” the statement says.

The asphalt road Kislovodsk-Dzhily-Su was built back in 2014, but due to the very difficult terrain it was not considered as a cycling route. However, this is precisely what made it attractive to cycling enthusiasts, the administration of Kislovodsk notes.

“Most of the route will pass at an altitude of 2400-2200 meters above sea level. This will be the first bicycle track in the country of this format. There are no such picturesque, complex and extreme places in Russia. Participants will start from Kislovodsk. We will definitely inform you additionally about the time of the cycling races,” said the head of Kislovodsk, Evgeny Moiseev, whose words are quoted on the website.
