The third season of the all-Russian eco-action "Choose Clean Air" has kicked off in Omsk. Ceremonial cycling races, marathons and environmental events under the auspices of the federal project "Clean Air" were also held in Novokuznetsk, Lipetsk, Sterlitamak, Chelyabinsk and Cherepovets. Several thousand people took part in them, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia reported on its website.

The "Choose Clean Air" action is also taking place on the social network "VKontakte".

"From May 25 to September 22, participants are invited to make a choice in favor of alternative modes of transport instead of gasoline-powered vehicles and to accept the challenge in the VK Steps service of the VKontakte application," the statement says.

One of the conditions is to share their sporting achievements in this social network with the hashtag #выбираючистыйвоздух.

Based on the results of the action, the most active participants will be awarded valuable prizes.

"Traditionally, we start in the cities participating in the federal project "Clean Air" and pass the baton to all subjects of Russia from the Far East to the southern regions and Kaliningrad. Last year the action covered more than 40 million people," the words of the First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Konstantin Tsyganov are quoted in the message.

As noted by the ministry, last year the participants of the eco-action from 57 regions preferred running, walking, cycling and riding scooters instead of using gasoline-powered vehicles.

"Together they overcame more than a million "clean kilometers" and made a great contribution to the cleanliness of the atmospheric air," the ministry said.
