The modern interactive museum-factory "SyrKultProsvet" in Uglich has become a new attraction for lovers of gastronomic and industrial tourism. It opened this spring on the territory of an operating cheese and dairy plant.
"In a popular science style, we will tell the guests of the museum about cheese. A cheese map of Europe will be presented, iconic, the best world cheeses will be presented, visitors will learn the etymology of the word "cheese" in different languages of the world, starting with Latin," - the museum's website says.
Guests will also learn about how cheesemaking originated and evolved in Russia, and how it was developed by the founder of Russian cheesemaking, Nikolai Vereshchagin.
"Then the excursion program will continue the story about the Soviet period in the industry, starting from 1935, when the plant was founded in Uglich, to the heyday of cheesemaking in the USSR in the 1970s, as well as about the current state of affairs at the plant and in the country as a whole," - noted at the museum.
There is also an archivist's room, where interesting documents and orders are presented, including those related to how the enterprise worked during the Great Patriotic War.
"Visitors also have a unique opportunity to walk along a specially equipped promenade located above the operating cheese production line! From here you can see the production itself through a panoramic glass gallery, and each stage of the cheese production chain is explained by the guide," - the website says.
In addition, the Museum has a cinema hall for 30 seats, where you can watch films about the history of cheesemaking and the Uglich plant. Master classes and seminars will be held in the cinema hall.
