Bulgaria's entry into the Schengen zone has created problems for the tourism industry. Against the backdrop of growing interest in beach vacations, hoteliers and restaurateurs are sounding the alarm: the industry may be left without workers. The fact is that the new rules for issuing work visas have become a stumbling block in the recruitment of personnel.
During the peak beach season, Bulgaria's tourism industry requires thousands of foreign workers. On the Black Sea coast alone, it is necessary to urgently issue work visas for 27,000 workers from Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey, for whom applications have already been submitted. Labor migrants from Uzbekistan are in great demand on the Bulgarian labor market. They are valued not only as responsible and hardworking workers. It is also important that they speak Russian, which removes the language barrier when working with local staff.
However, due to bureaucratic delays in the Employment Agency and the Migration Directorate, the document processing time is delayed by 3 months or more! Against this background, entrepreneurs are calling on the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, Evtim Miloshev, to immediately resolve the issue.
To eliminate the problem, the well-known lawyer Plamen Dotev proposes to make the document flow electronic and create a single database. However, all this takes time, which is already practically running out: hotels on the coast should open in May.
