The Ministry of Economic Development's press service has announced the results of the BRICS tourism contact group meeting. It was attended by both the permanent member countries of the association and the newcomers - Egypt, the UAE, and Ethiopia.
At the meeting, the Russian side proposed that the BRICS countries create a working group on tourism, as well as approve a "roadmap" for tourism cooperation from 2024 to 2026.
"According to forecasts, by the end of 2024, the 'roadmap' measures will be able to increase tourist exchange between the countries of the association to 5 million trips, taking into account the expanded BRICS composition. This is almost four times higher than the 2023 figures - the tourist flow was 1.4 million people," the statement says.
The meeting participants supported the Russian initiatives, which will help the BRICS countries improve communication between tourism market players and increase mutual tourist flow.
