"Big Woodyavr" has broken last year's attendance record and remains the only mid-altitude ski resort in Russia where the ski season continues. This was reported by the Murmansk Region Tourism Committee on its website.

"The attendance of the Big Woodyavr ski resort, located in Kirovsk, Murmansk Region, exceeded 403 thousand guests by mid-May. This is 20.2% more than for the entire 2022-2023 season, when the resort was visited by more than 335 thousand guests," - the message says.

The closure of the season at the resort is not expected until the end of May - early June.

"Thus, this year the duration of the season at BigWood may be from 210 to 217 days," - said the director of "Big Woodyavr" Alexander Sergienko, quoted by the tourism committee.

As noted in the message, this season the Kirovsk resort has once again confirmed that the skiing season here is the longest among Russian ski resorts located at comparable heights.

"So, in the Khibiny Mountains it has been going on for 199 days, while at other major resorts in the country - Rosa Khutor, Krasnaya Polyana and Sheregesh - the season lasted a little over 130-160 days, respectively," - they said in the tourism committee.

The growth in popularity of BigWood is largely attributed to the dynamic development of the resort's infrastructure. "Big Woodyavr" is part of a long-term project to develop the Khibiny mountain-tourist cluster, which is being implemented by PhosAgro. The company has invested almost 9 billion rubles in the project, the committee said.

The design of an aqua complex and a hotel with it is currently underway, which will become the first full-fledged SKI-INN/SKI-OUT hotel in the Khibiny Mountains. Both facilities will be built near the northern slope of Mount Aikkuaivenchorr. "The completion of the construction of the hotel complex is scheduled for the end of 2026, and the water park - for 2027," - the message says.
