The official website of the governor and the government of the Sakhalin region reported that by mid-November it is planned to put in order the Aniva lighthouse, popular with tourists. Repair and restoration work will begin when the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation transfers the facility to the ownership of the Sakhalin government. This procedure is expected to be completed in the spring.
Aniva Lighthouse is one of the business cards of the region. During the renovation, it is planned to preserve the authenticity of the object and bring it to its original architectural appearance. There are also plans to renovate the premises. Specialists will make the facility safer for tourists.
The report notes that work on the documentation is already underway. The exterior repair work should be completed by November 15.
Aniva Lighthouse is one of the most inaccessible lighthouses in Russia. It was built in 1939. The height of the tower is 31 meters, the height of the light is 40 meters above sea level. The lighthouse has been saving naval vessels from sinking off rocky shores for almost 80 years, and in 2006 its operation of the lighthouse was discontinued.
