The official website of the Mayor of Moscow announced the opening of the exhibition "44 cheerful siskins" at the Timiryazev State Biological Museum. Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the behavior, geographical distribution and nutrition of the siskin.

"The exhibition is built around the poem "Funny Siskins" by Samuel Marshak and Daniil Kharms: "Forty-four forty-four funny siskins lived in an apartment." The poetic text wittily describes the biological traits, habits and even kinship ties of this little green bird," the message says.

The exhibition presents exhibits from the museum collections "Scarecrows", "Nests. Masonry", "Wet preparations", "Herbarium" and "Decorative and applied art".

Recently, ornithologists have been publishing data on the decline in the number of finches in the country. Therefore, the finch was declared the feathered Bird of the year 2024 by the Union for the Protection of Birds of Russia.
