The "Altai Wintering" festival, which opens the winter tourist season in the Altai Territory, will be held on December 14th. It will bring together vibrant sporting events, children's entertainment, and an excursion program. The main venue of the festival will be the "Central" stadium in Belokurikha. This was announced by the regional Tourism Portal "Visit Altai".

"One of the goals of the festival is to develop year-round tourism. This is a great opportunity to extend the season and stay active year-round. The variety and large number of sports are evidence of the numerous opportunities for winter recreation in the Altai Territory," the message says.

In various cities and districts of the region, participants of the "Altai Wintering" will compete in strength, speed, agility and demonstrate a high level of sportsmanship to the audience.

As the portal notes, the "heart" of the "Altai Wintering" is the Sovetsky district, where in the "Lebedinny" reserve there are unfrozen lakes - wintering places for more than one and a half thousand whooper swans.

As part of the festival, tourists will visit one of these unfrozen lakes.

"Among the snowdrifts and ice, against the background of trees covered with thick frost, graceful white swans move. On frosty sunny days, in the haze of steaming water, they look like a magical mirage. Anyone who has ever seen such a sight will keep it in their heart for a long time," the message says.

It is the inhabitants of this lake that inspired the residents of the region to create the "Altai Wintering" festival, the portal notes.
