The press service of the national park "Land of the Leopard" reported that inspectors of the Far Eastern Marine Reserve seized 800 kg of trepang from poachers. The "sea cucumbers" were released in the same place where they were trying to get them.

Illegal mining attempts were detected twice in the protected area of the reserve. For the first time, several hundred trepang specimens with a total weight of about 300 kg were saved. During the second arrest, it was possible to seize about half a ton of "sea cucumber" from the attackers. The violators were detained.

The ichthyologist confirmed that the rescued animals remained viable.

"The Far Eastern trepang is one of the specially protected inhabitants of the Far Eastern Marine Reserve. Every autumn, adults form massive spawning clusters that attract poachers. State inspectors patrol the water area daily to prevent illegal extraction of trepang," the message says.
