The results of a volunteer campaign to clean the shores of Russian reservoirs from garbage in 2023 were announced recently at the pavilion of the Ministry of Natural Resources "Naturograd" at VDNH. The agency announced this on its website.
"For all the years of the campaign "Water of Russia", 9.5 million volunteers took part in the clean-up. They collected and removed almost 11 million bags of garbage from the shores of water bodies – this is about 91 thousand KamAZ trucks. In 2023, 1,576,711 volunteers took part in the coastal cleanup. They carried out about 28 thousand activities, cleaned 38,459 kilometers of coastlines and removed 1,847,737 bags filled with 146,645 cubic meters of garbage," the message says.
According to the results of this year's campaign, Tatarstan took the first place, which has become the leader for the third time in a row.
Karachay-Cherkessia is in second place. North Ossetia closes the top three. The fourth and fifth places went to Ingushetia and Bashkiria, respectively.
The All-Russian campaign to clean up debris from the shores of water bodies "Water of Russia" has been held since 2014.
