In two years, an air taxi service will be launched in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the Khaleej Times, the Dubai government has signed a 6-year contract with the American aviation company Joby Aviation, which develops electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
To this end, vertical airports will be built in Dubai (on the territory of Palm Jumeirah) and Abu Dhabi (Marina Mall).
Earlier in February, Joby Aviation signed an agreement with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, according to which air transportation will be launched in 2026. However, the first trial flights around the city will begin next year.
The speed of the air taxi will reach 320 km / h, transportation will be carried out exclusively over water, which will provide passengers with a beautiful bird's-eye view of the city, and residents will be guaranteed peace and quiet, since the routes will not run over houses.
The launch of an air taxi will allow you to fly from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 10-30 minutes instead of the usual 60-90 minutes by car.
